What’s in a name? Simply put, ‘450 above’ relates to the height in feet above sea level of the village of Wickersley, though it may also refer to the 450 original recipes developed by our kitchen team; the 450 hours spent yearly polishing cutlery; 450 ways to prepare a dish … In essence, our restaurant offers a chance for diners to experience fine dining in an unpretentious setting. Our small team of kitchen and front of house staff endeavour to present you with an enjoyable meal. Whether that be an intimate evening meal for two or a party gathering for a special occasion, our 38 seater restaurant can accommodate your dining requirements.
Established in 2011, our restaurant has continued to develop and grow under the supervision of our Head Chef and Front of House lead. We always try to accommodate all our guests’ needs to ensure your experience is a pleasurable one.
Regular events such as our popular ‘Five Course Food & Wine Tasting Evening’ are detailed on our menu page, alongside seasonal events and special offers such as our table d'hôte ‘mid-week special menu’, available Tuesday to Thursday. Alternatively, a range of dishes are available every day on our ‘daily menu’, which includes our steak cuts and sharing dish choices.
Tuesday is our ‘Handcrafted Crusty Pie’ night, serving a selection of meat, fish and vegetarian pies; accompanied by handcut twice-cooked chips and mushy peas at only £10 per pie dish. Our daily core menu and steak menu also run on Tuesdays alongside our pie menu, just in case you have room for a delicate starter or sweet-treat dessert.
Whilst we encourage pre-booking your table at the weekend and during busy periods, we do try our very best to accommodate everyone, so please don’t hesitate to call anytime.
